Resident voices
At Settle, we believe that truly understanding the people who live in our homes starts with listening to them. That’s why we’re committed to involving residents in shaping our decisions and direction, guided by their feedback every step of the way.
We ensure all engagement opportunities are accessible and inclusive, whether through digital platforms like Settle Connect or in-person activities such as focus groups, surveys, or community events. We aim for every resident to feel empowered to engage in a way that works for them.
We share resident feedback, insights, and stories with colleagues at all levels, including regular reports to our Board.
Our Engagement Framework
Our Engagement Framework ensures residents have multiple ways to engage with us, aligning with our mission to be relentlessly resident focused. Feedback is continuously gathered, acted upon, and shared transparently.
Resident influence
Residents shape our decisions through several channels:
- Operations Committee: Independent residents ensure our decisions align with community needs.
- Procurement Panel: Residents help select suppliers, embedding community values.
- Green Panel: Focused on sustainability, this group supports our environmental efforts.
- Colleague and Resident Panel: A unique mix of colleagues and residents that improve our services.
Voice of the Residents’ Panel
Our Residents' Panel bridges the gap between residents, colleagues, and Board members. It champions resident voices, holding us accountable for how we listen to and act on feedback. The panel also helps shape services by commissioning reviews and scrutiny projects based on resident feedback.
Settle Connect
Settle Connect is our digital platform where residents can:
- Access information about upcoming engagement activities
- Participate in polls and surveys
- Share feedback on policy reviews
- Interact with us via the map facility
- Stay informed on how their input shapes our services.
Our Big Door Knock
Three times a year, we visit residents in different neighbourhoods to gather their thoughts on how we're doing and where we can improve. Every colleague, including Board and executive members, participates. This is important to us because it helps all of us understand and contribute to the resident experience.

Neighbourhood Action Weeks
Settle colleagues will get out into the neighbourhoods where the Big Door Knocks are taking place, with a focus on understanding what it is like to live in that area and where we can make improvements at the same time. We’ll carry out activities like litter picking and gardening and be on hand for residents who want to stop by for a chat. We then combine our first-hand experience with data and feedback from residents to help shape Neighbourhood Plans guiding our future work in these neighbourhoods.
